north carolina mountain cabin
Our NC Blue Ridge Cabins are located right in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, which provides tourists and visitors to the High Country with a great place to mountain bike. The North Carolina mountain biking trails you’ll find here offer some of the best ways to get out and see parts of the mountain that are not accessible by a car. We have compiled some information about the great trails and a bit about the local bike shops so you can enjoy this popular pastime in the mountains.

Throughout the area you’ll find excellent spots, many of which are renowned for mountain biking. In Valle Crucis, there are several wonderful places to start your mountain biking excursion. You can enjoy a ride along the Blue Ridge Parkway and see gorgeous sites of the mountains, or ride through Valle Crucis Park along the river. Each year, Blood, Sweat and Gears is an event that starts and ends in Valle Crucis and takes riders through a 21 mile portion of the Blue Ridge Parkway that is particularly grueling. Experienced riders will enjoy the camaraderie and competition of the event, be sure to check it out next year.

Banner Elk is especially friendly to mountain bikers and in the summer months. Sugar Mountain offers a lift service to the top of Sugar Mountain for bikers to enjoy the mountain biking trails atop Sugar. Sugar Mountain is also home to an annual bike event, and the Showdown at Sugar is a NORBA National Championship Event that is a showcase for professional riders.

In Blowing Rock, the Benson Hollow Trail has long been considered one of the top spots for mountain biking in North Carolina. Nearby, the 18 mile ride and Buckeye Trails are also great places to check out in Blowing Rock. The trails around the Moses Cone home and carriage trails provide yet another way to enjoy North Carolina mountain biking.

Venture just outside of Boone and mountain bike, or rather just bike, as the road is mostly flat and scenic, along the New River on the Railroad Grade Road biking area. The road runs alongside the New River and is home to beautiful locations and scenery. Be sure to share the road with drivers, as it is particularly narrow in certain parts, but this rural road is a favorite among mountain biking locals.

For true bike enthusiasts, the area’s Virginia Creeper Trail provides an abundance of biking areas. Just a short drive away in Damascus, Virginia there are a number of bike shops, guides and trail maps of the Virginia Creeper trails.  Stay in our lovely NC Blue Ridge Cabins on your next Boone NC Vacation.  Want to see more great Cabins in the NC Mountains?  We have great Cabins in Boone NC available for your stay, spacious Banner Elk Cabins, Sugar Mountain Rentals minutes from the biking trails and Blowing Rock Vacation Rentals that rival all the others that you may find!  Don't pick the wrong rental cabin company, learn more about our Guest Services and the fun Things to Do in Boone NC that are going on right now!
